Apostates and Apostate Masters

The Apostates are enemies on the Kingdom map that your Inquisitor fights.

Ancient Apostates are opponents that you can encounter only in the Dominion.

Apostate features

Each Apostate has a level that determines their health reserve. Level 1 Apostates are the most vulnerable, while level 6 Apostates are the best protected. The location of an Apostate is also level-specific, with the highest-level foes (level 6) found closest to the center of the map.

Rewards for attacking an Apostate include items, resources, and shards for rune creation in the Rune Workshop.

In order for your Inquisitor to be able to attack an Apostate, you need to:

  • Conduct the Unlock Apostates I Study to attack level 1 Apostates, the Unlock Apostates II Study to attack level 2 Apostates, and so on.
  • Ensure that the Inquisitor is not marching and their Faith is sufficient to land at least a single hit.

When an attack is complete, the Inquisitor's Faith restoration begins. You can speed up restoration by upgrading Inquisitor's Doctrines, conducting Studies, etc.

You can increase the amount of Faith by using the Inquisitor's Faith item.

There are two kinds of attacks on an Apostate: a normal and a heavy attack. During a normal attack, the Inquisitor lands only a single hit, and during a heavy attack, the Inquisitor lands several hits at once. The number of hits depends on the Inquisitor's Faith reserve.

Several consecutive normal attacks carried out over the course of one hour are combined into a sustained attack.

Each consecutive normal attack gives a bonus to the next one. This means that the first attack on an Apostate will add 15% to offense during the second attack, the second attack will add 30% to offense during the third attack, the third attack will add 45% to offense during the fourth attack, and so on. You can perform 40 such attacks in total and receive +600% to offense. After the Inquisitor performs the maximum number of consecutive attacks, the bonus stops increasing.

Sustained attacks apply to one Apostate and one Inquisitor at a time. For example, if there have already been four attacks on a level 6 Black Magician within an hour, and the bonus is at 60%, attacking another Apostate or changing the Inquisitor will reset the counter to zero, and the sustained attack will start over.

Your Inquisitor and Inquisitor's Double can attack the same Apostate in turn, but if you attack different opponents, the bonus to offense won't increase.

During a normal attack or a heavy attack, an increased offense multiplier can be randomly activated (producing a critical hit). As a result, the Inquisitor will spend the same amount of Faith but deal a more powerful hit to the opponent.

There are four ways to increase the Inquisitor's offense:

  • Upgrading the Inquisitor's attack stats
  • Increasing the critical hit chance
  • Performing more consecutive attacks
  • Reducing the Apostate's defense

You can affect these by using Studies, Inquisitor's Doctrines, and Boosts.

Once an Inquisitor has slain an Apostate, an Apostate's Crypt appears at the place where the battle occurred. These Crypts are special resource locations where your troops can obtain resources and rune shards.

Use shards to create runes in the Rune Workshop, which you can then use to enhance legendary equipment.

Apostate Master features

Apostate Masters are a more dangerous type of Apostate. They have substantially more health than level 6 Apostates. It is more difficult to defeat them, but the reward for doing so will be bigger.

Search for Apostate Masters in the Dark Forest, near the Eternal Stronghold. To attack them, conduct the Unlock Apostates I Study.

There are the following differences between Apostates and their Masters:

  • Apostate Masters don't have a defense indicator or a level sign, but they have a special symbol.
  • Your Inquisitor can attack an Apostate Master even if the Inquisitor's Doctrines and Studies have not been upgraded, but there is a chance that the enemy will not take any damage.
  • Apostate Masters drop more rune shards than regular Apostates.
  • Attacking Apostate Masters earns more points during Tournaments than attacking regular Apostates.

After you destroy an Apostate Master, an Apostate Master's Crypt appears in his place. You can yield resources and rune shards there. These locations exist for a set period of time or until the resources there have been exhausted.

Inquisitor's bonuses against Apostates also affect Apostate Masters.
