Cardinals

Cardinals are experienced military leaders and insightful diplomats who are ready to give you their support. You can summon and promote them in the Conclave of Cardinals.

Cardinals grant bonuses that affect your troops' stats, the speed of training warriors, construction, conducting Studies, and other stats.

Cardinals' promotion

Cardinals can be promoted in various ways. Some need resources for their promotion, others need Gold, while still others require special items – Trophies of Arms. The promotion of Cardinals for Gold and Trophies of Arms is completed immediately.

If you're promoting a Cardinal for resources, you will be able to increase another Cardinal's level only after the current process has been completed. If you cancel the Cardinal's promotion, the resources spent won't be refunded.

You can speed up the promotion of a Cardinal. However, bonuses from VIP status and help from members of your Order or Pact don't affect this process.

Cardinals' bonuses and restoration

Each Cardinal has several types of bonuses:

  • Temporary bonuses are active for a limited amount of time after the Cardinal has been summoned.
  • Permanent bonuses are activated after the Cardinal has been promoted to level one (you don't need to summon the Cardinal to get this type of bonus).
  • Bonuses in the Conflict of Cardinals affect troop offense and are active only if the Cardinal has been summoned (more details in the Conflict of Cardinals subsection).

When their temporary bonuses expire, Cardinals need time to restore their abilities. Permanent bonuses will still be active, however.

You can only have one Cardinal summoned at a time. Summoning a new Cardinal will cancel the temporary bonuses of the previous one, who will be sent away to restore energy.

Conflict of Cardinals

Each Cardinal belongs to one of the three Chambers – the Moon, the Sun, or the Twilight Chambers. Each Chamber has its own advantages.

Cardinals from the Moon Chamber are strong against the representatives of the Twilight Chamber; the Sun Cardinals – against the members of the Moon Chamber; and the Twilight Cardinals – against the members of the Sun Chamber.

You can get an advantage over your enemy by summoning a Cardinal. Bonuses in the Conflict of Cardinals are only active when both battle participants have Cardinals from opposing Chambers summoned.

You can view information about an opponent's Cardinal in the player information window, in the Player tab. Information about a Cardinal can be hidden from other Lords using the Obscuration item.
